The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Pune is a premier institute dedicated to research and teaching in the basic sciences. It was established in 2006 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development. In 2012, it was declared as an Institute of national importance by an Act of Parliament. As a unique initiative in science education in India, IISER aims to be a Science University of the highest caliber devoted to both teaching and research in a totally integrated manner, with state-of-the-art research and high quality education, thus nurturing both curiosity and creativity.

As a part of people outreach programme, IISER organize lectures for students which are open for common people. Under this series exciting science groups had organised a lecture on 29th July, 2017 by K. Guruswamy of NCL. Two students of Std. X attended the lecture.

In his lecture K. Guruswamy informed about INSEF, Science Project Fair for year 2017-18. He also gave information about the websites on which rules and regulations for the participation in the fair are mentioned. He also gave information about the date schedule for this year’s project fair and the fields of science in which the projects can be made. He emphasized upon the originality of the project and its verification using Google and Wikipedia. He also mentioned the method of sending the project and some do’s and don’ts. The lecture was very informative for students in making research based projects.
