“Travelling is like reading the world’s biggest storybook, except you’re inside the story.”
My suitcase has more stamps than my notebook has pages! I’ve travelled across India -from the pink walls of Jaipur to the green backwaters of Kerala, the snowy mountains up north, and even beyond our country to cities where people speak different languages. And I’m extra proud being Punekar, a city that’s like a history book come alive! In Pune I’ve walked through Shaniwar Wada with its grand gates and spooky stories, seen Lal Mahal where Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj spent his childhood, and visited Aga Khan Palace that taught me about India’s freedom struggle. Travelling is like getting a magic key to the world. Let’s explore the benefits of travelling:
*First, it turns you into a super-smart person because you don’t just read about geography and science – you actually see how rivers start from melting snow in the Himalayas, how forts are built on hills, and how people live differently in mountains vs cities.
*Second, it makes your brain sharper because every trip gives you puzzles – reading maps, counting money in a new currency, or finding the right train.
*Third, it builds courage. I was scared the first time I trekked a small Himalayan trail or tried food I’d never heard of, but now I love saying “yes” to new things.
*Fourth, travel teaches kindness and respect. When you meet people in mountain villages with very little but huge smiles, or kids abroad with different festivals, you learn that being different is fun, not scary.
*Fifth, it’s the best stress-buster! No homework, no tests – just the sound of wind in Himalayan pine trees or waves at the beach that wash away all tension. The most important lesson travelling teaches is every beautiful place stays beautiful only if we keep it clean.
*And lastly, it creates memories that last forever.
So my tips to you dear students: Start small! Visit a nearby hill, fort, museum, or park this weekend. Pack a notebook, write 3 lines daily, ask “why” about everything, and keep places clean. Save pocket money, dream big, and remember – every trip adds a new chapter. The world is waiting, so go read it.
Remember: “The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only one page.” Go and read many pages!
