Lecture was organised at S.S.P.M. Day School & Jr. College on 21st June 2017 to mark the beginning of summer solstice, the longest day and the shortest night of the year in the Northern Hemisphere which is usually observed on 21st June or sometimes on 20th  June.

Mrs. Urmila Jadhav : Sr.Teacher from the Jr. College section delivered a lecture for the school and Jr. college students. She explained the importance of the day through video clippings & presentations.

21st June is the longest day of the hemisphere .It might seem like a day to celebrate but it actually signals the start of days becoming steadily shorter until 21st December known as winter solstice .The Northern solstice is the moment when the sun reaches its highest position; which marks to be the longest day of the hemisphere. It is celebrated throughout the world.

This day is also celebrated as International Yoga Day.
